When we launched The Glenmorangie Original Bicycle, we selected two component kits typical of how we usually equip our versatile disc road bikes. The Launch and Prestige editions are variations on the standard theme of sporty-but capable and comfortable drop-bar bikes for any situation.
Of course, the Glenmorangie Original frameset can serve as a blank canvas or a sort of paint-by-numbers version of "the perfect all-around bicycle," and two Glenmorangie Original owners recently decided to have us build their bikes with a more custom touch than the standard kit.
Both of these were built for riders who already own a Renovo each. The upright "city" build with cushy 650x47 tires went to a rider looking for a sportier ride than his limited-edition Renovo Beach Cruiser, while the low-geared Di2 1x11 went to a rider wanting a bike capable of climbing the steepest of hills with worse pavement than she chooses to tackle aboard her Aerowood.
First up, this drop-bar build featuring the super-wide gearing of an E-thirteen 9-46 tooth cassette with a 34t front ring. This bike will just about climb up a wall with perfect shifts every time from the XTR Di2 rear derailleur. Of course you want your limited-edition Glenmoranige bicycle to be stylin' too, hence the Brooks leather saddle and saddle and bar tape.
There are steep climbs to be found in the coastal hills of Northern California, and this build is built to tacke them (paved and unpaved), with enough low gearing to climb even while loaded with touring gear.
More into crusing than jamming? How about 650b tubeless wheels and tires for cush? Match them with a 1x11 SRAM Force 1 gearset and powerful Shimano brakes and you may be surprised how far your next cruise takes you. This bike features a Brooks Cambium saddle and PDW Cork composite grips for comfyness right out of the box.
For a casual rider, this is a pretty sporty bike and surprisingly sprightly at 21.75lbs. Able to tackle rough pavement or rail trails without losing composure, the WTB Horizon tubeless tires roll very quickly on smooth pave as well.
